After a winter break, kids football skills coaching returns to Great Horkesley, near Colchester in February.
JBFC, run by FA Licensed Coach and Horkesley resident Jamie Bradbury, provides local boys and girls aged four to ten with the opportunity to play and learn about the Beautiful Game in a fun and relaxed environment.
The new JBFC term, which will be run over three five-week blocks, will see two sessions running each Saturday morning on the Jubilee Field in Tile House Lane.
From 9.45 am it’s a chance for the four to six-year-olds, then at 10.55am the six to ten-year-olds take to the pitch.
Every child has a ball each and sessions always begin with a few minutes of free-play, where they can try things out for themselves or practice with their friends.
A warm-up follows, incorporating the fundamental movements of sports, like running, jumping, twisting and turning, along with football elements such as dribbling, turning, passing and tricks.
The sessions then move onto the main theme of the week, starting with a technique, for example shooting or goalkeeping, and progresses to an opposed practice where they can try their new skills up against other players.
All sessions end with a small-sided game to allow the children to put what they’ve learned to the test, to have the chance to score goals and compete, and above all to laugh and have fun.
JBFC is all about the kids and letting them get the most out of football, without feeling any pressure of winning games or pleasing pushy parents.
