The JBFC Code of Conduct & Respect

By registering for JBFC Football, all Players, Parents and Coaches agree to follow the JBFC Code.

PLAYERS WILL…

  • Always play to the best of their ability
  • Respect and help their team-mates, coaches and supporters
  • Play by the rules
  • Listen and respond to what the coach tells them
  • Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying or abuse
  • Talk to someone they trust if they are unhappy about anything
  • Put forward ideas and suggestions and give feedback to the coach

PARENTS, GUARDIANS, SUPPORTERS WILL…

  • Remember that children play for fun
  • Understand that children learn differently and while one may only dribble with the ball and another may only ever pass the ball, neither are necessarily doing something wrong
  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success
  • Remain outside the field of play and within the Designated Spectators’ Area (where provided)
  • Let the coach do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do – do not ‘coach’ from the side line
  • Never encourage players to kick the ball away or ‘get rid’
  • Expect mistakes and NEVER criticise a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning
  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour
  • Always ensure the players are on time for training and games and are committed to their experience and development with JBFC Saturday Club

THE COACH WILL…

  • Work with the players to create a philosophy of play that they would like to experience
  • Adhere to the laws and spirit of the game
  • Promote Fair Play and high standards of behaviour
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.
  • Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything.
  • Explain exactly what is expected of players and what they can expect from the coach
  • Ensure all parents/guardians/spectators understand these expectations
  • Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying
  • Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem
  • Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance
  • Ensure all activities organised are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age and maturity
  • Provide players with an opportunity to voice opinions, share ideas and shape their own learning.
