Kids Football Coaching in Colchester: Our #LoveTheBall Philosophy

At JBFC Football, every session starts with one simple idea: #LoveTheBall. We believe young players develop fastest, and enjoy themselves most, when they spend real time with a ball at their feet, not standing in queues or listening to long instructions.

For our youngest players, that means ball mastery and dribbling games built around fun. As children grow, we build towards passing, receiving, shooting and game understanding, at a pace that suits the child, not the calendar.

Based in Great Horkesley on the Essex/Suffolk border, we welcome players from right across Colchester and the surrounding villages, including Mile End, Chesterwell, West Bergholt, Boxted, Highwoods, Langham, Nayland and Bures.

We’re a coaching school, not an academy: no trials, no pressure, no fear of getting things wrong. Every child is welcome at our Saturday Club and 1-2-1 sessions, whatever their ability. Many go on to join a local club team when ready; for others, loving the game is enough, and that’s just as good an outcome.

What age can my child start football coaching?

We welcome players from age 4 upwards. Our youngest groups focus on ball mastery and fun, with no formal drills until children are ready.

My child has never played football before — is that OK?

Yes. JBFC was built for exactly that — an inclusive coaching school for complete beginners through to confident players, with no trials and no pressure.

Does my child have to join a team afterwards?

No. Many progress to local club football when they choose to, but plenty simply enjoy the sessions for the friendships, fitness and fun.

How much does kids football coaching cost in Colchester?

Group sessions cost around £65 per player for a 12-week term, rising to £70 in winter when sessions move indoors, with discounts available for siblings.
